formation of the Government in Kosovo after the elections this Sunday in which the nationalist Albin Kurti was proclaimed the winner.

“Following the political stalemate after the February 2025 elections, we look forward to the rapid formation of the new Assembly and Government, as well as continuing our collaboration with the authorities,” Kallas and Kos said in a joint statement.

Furthermore, they maintained that the new Government “should redouble its efforts on the much-needed reforms related to the EU”, while also saying that the Twenty-Seven “take positive note of the active participation of all communities and their political parties in the elections”.

You can also read: Some 40,000 producers maintain organic food production in Mexico in 2025

“The electoral process demonstrated a firm commitment to democratic principles,” they added.

The nationalist formation Self-Determination (Vetëvendosje), of acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has clearly won the early elections in Kosovo by adding 49% of the votes, with 93.43% of the ballots counted, according to the Central Electoral Commission.

Secondly, the opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) is positioned – with that level of scrutiny – with 21%, followed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with 13.9% and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) with 5.8%.

The result is expected to improve Autodeterminación’s results from the February elections, when it obtained 42.3%, while the opposition in general has seen its support reduced.

Kallas and Kos also urged the Kosovar Parliament today, once constituted, to “ratify the agreements related to the Western Balkans Growth Plan” adopted for the period 2024-2027, as “it is in Kosovo’s interest that the ratification be carried out as soon as possible to take full advantage of all opportunities”.

They asserted that the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia remains “the only way for both countries to advance on their path to the EU” and showed the willingness of the Community bloc to organize a high-level meeting “once conditions allow.”

The EU has deployed an electoral expert mission that will remain in Kosovo to monitor post-election procedures.

The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, showed this Monday their desire for a “rapid”
