Rio de Janeiro.-<\/strong> On the eve of a party that expects 2.5 million people, the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro<\/strong> received this Tuesday from the Guinness World Records<\/a><\/strong> the title that certifies it as the organizer of the largest New Year’s Eve party in the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nThe title was received by the mayor of Rio<\/strong>, Eduardo Paes<\/strong>, in a ceremony on the main stage set up on the famous Copacabana beach<\/strong> for Wednesday’s ‘Reveillon’ party.\n\nThe commemorative plaque was presented by “Camila Borenstein”, representative of Guinness and one of the judges of the organization that edits the famous Guinness Book of World Records.\n\nAccording to Borenstein, the title certifies that, on December 31st of last year, a record of 2.5 million people<\/strong> welcomed the arrival of 2025 at the party organized on Copacabana beach.\n\nThe figure does not take into account the total number of people who participate in the various public New Year’s Eve celebrations organized by Rio de Janeiro on its beaches and parks (thirteen this year), which is estimated to have reached 5 million last year.\n\n\n

“It’s an honor to receive that validation from Guinness regarding the size of our Reveillon. We know that no other city in the world organizes events for so many people and with such consistency as Rio de Janeiro,” Paes said upon receiving the plaque.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nAccording to Guinness World Records, the title was awarded taking into account not only the record number of participants but also the magnitude of the artistic programming, the territorial extension of the event and its cultural importance.\n\n“Rio de Janeiro won that title after we received various tests, including with drones, verifying the record of participants in the last edition of Reveillon,” said Borenstein.\n\nThe ceremony took place on the eve of a new festival<\/strong> in which the city expects to receive another 2.5 million participants on its famous beach, a public superior to the population of 99.9% of the municipalities in Brazil.\n\nIn this year’s edition, it will feature three stages in Copacabana,<\/strong> one of which is exclusive for gospel music lovers.\n\n\n

The House of Alofoke 2 obtains the Guinness Record for the \u201clongest streaming in history\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nAccording to the mayor’s office, the fireworks display<\/strong> this year will last 12 minutes and will be extended to a larger audience, as the rockets will be launched from 19 rafts distributed along Copacabana beach, double the number of vessels used last year.\n\nThe party will also feature a show with 1,200 drones that will design figures synchronized with the fireworks.<\/strong>\n\nAmong the artists who will perform this year on the Copacabana stages are the mythical Gilberto Gil and Ney Matogrosso, two of the greatest representatives of the so-called Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), as well as the singers Belo and Alcione, icons of samba, and Alok. The party will end with a presentation by the ‘bateria’ (percussion orchestra) of the award-winning samba school Beija Flor.\n\nAccording to the mayor’s office, there will be 70 musical attractions<\/strong> on the 13 different stages spread throughout Rio de Janeiro.\n\nAccording to the municipality, Reveillon should attract about five million people this year, of which 2.5 million are concentrated in Copacabana.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
