The units involved belonged to the companies PeruRail and Inca Rail, and the impact caused significant damage to the locomotives and several wagons, in addition to interrupting rail traffic on the affected section.\n\nThe fatality was identified as Roberto C\u00e1rdenas Loay, the driver of one of the units. At least 30 people, including tourists and workers, were injured and taken to medical centers in Cusco.\n\nThe authorities activated emergency protocols and mobilized ambulances and health personnel.
