The lawyer of the former Ecuadorian vice president Jorge Glas, Sonia Vera, reported that she expects that by the end of January at the latest, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) will extend the provisional measures granted in October, ordering the Ecuadorian State to immediately hospitalize and place Glas under house arrest.<\/p>\n
Vera indicated that, after her transfer to a maximum security prison in Santa Elena in November, they filed a request for an extension of measures to protect her physical and mental health, as well as her rights to integrity and life.<\/p>\n
A private medical examination concluded that Glas requires immediate hospitalization, which prompted a corrective habeas corpus that was denied by a judge.
