The Dominican Republic will collaborate with the international force with logistical support for the medical evacuations of the troops and will offer third-level medical services to its members when they cannot be provided in Haiti,&#8221; explained the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.\n\nThe statement also highlights as another milestone the adoption of the resolution &#8220;Strengthening the global response to the massive influx of sargassum blooms&#8221;, presented by the Dominican Republic and co-sponsored by Barbados and Jamaica, at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7). The resolution constitutes the first instrument adopted by UNEA that addresses the sargassum phenomenon, consolidating years of diplomatic work by the country to make visible the growing impact of the massive blooms of this macroalgae.\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>You may be interested in: <a href=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/vicepresidenta-entrega-premio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/mirex-anuncia-posposicion-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MIREX announces postponement of the Summit of the Americas for 2026<\/a><\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, the Chancellery recalled that in this 2025, the Dominican Republic received four high-profile official visits:<\/p>\n\n\n\u2022 In February, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who came to strengthen bilateral relations and pledged to support Dominican efforts to mobilize the international community in the stabilization of Haiti.<br>\u2022 In April, the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, visited the country for the opening of the Russian Embassy in Santo Domingo and addressed, among other issues, the Haitian crisis and opportunities to expand economic and cultural ties.<br>\u2022 In May, the first Cabinet Secretary and Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi, arrived in the country, whose agenda included the first meeting of Political Consultations and addressed issues of trade, security, cultural exchange and cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the MSS in Haiti led by Kenya.<br>\u2022 In November, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth held a meeting at the National Palace with President Luis Abinader, where he affirmed that his government &#8220;came to support&#8221; its main ally against drugs and insecurity, and recognized the strategic role and Dominican regional leadership against transnational organized crime.\n\nFurthermore, the institution highlighted as an important step, the designation of the first resident Russian ambassador in the Dominican Republic, with which the country completes the presence in its territory of a diplomatic representation of the five (5) permanent member states of the UN Security Council.\n\nOn the other hand, the Dominican Republic achieved at least seventeen (17) key positions in international organizations on behalf of the country and in a personal capacity of prominent Dominicans, including: the Dominican lawyer Julio Jos\u00e9 Rojas B\u00e1ez was elected president of the Inter-American Juridical Committee of the Organization of American States (OAS); likewise, the country was elected for the first time to the Council of the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean (OPANAL); the Presidency of the UNCTAD Trade and Development Board. In addition, it was elected by acclamation to the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW); and as a member of the UN Women Executive Board; among others.\n\nIn other news, with a view to continue strengthening the institution, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted as an important event, the celebration of the Entrance Examination to the Diplomatic Career 2025, in which 50 applicants were selected who will henceforth begin an academic program at the Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training (INESDYC). &#8220;This process is of historical significance, as it is the first competition for entry into the Diplomatic Career held in more than a decade, and the first to be held in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law of the MIREX and the Foreign Service, selecting a new generation of career diplomats.\n\nThe Chancellery also highlighted that during 2025 an exercise was carried out to implement the principles of rotation and alternation established by law and its regulations. A sample of this was the issuance of decree number 81-25, through which President Luis Abinader ordered that 28 officials of the foreign service return to internal service in the Chancellery and that another 33 officials of the MIREX, some of them new appointments, go to the foreign service.\n\nFurthermore, he highlighted with great pride and commitment that, for the second consecutive year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received the Gold Medal in the National Quality Award of the Public Sector awarded by the Ministry of Public Administration, this being the highest award in the 2025 ceremony.\n\nRegarding commercial promotion and international cooperation, the MIREX recalled that the Dominican Republic participated in Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai from April 13 to October 13 with a commercial pavilion under the slogan \u201cHyperconnected,\u201d which received 4.5 million visitors and promoted the country&#8217;s connection with the world.\n\nIn addition, along with ProDominicana, nine trade missions from foreign companies that visited the country were coordinated, with Viettel (Vietnam), Ali Galip Ilter and Elit Gida (Turkey), Collectron International (Mexico) and Kana Ventures (Canada) standing out.\n\nFinally, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, the Chancellery managed a donation from the Government of Brazil of 192,000 doses of the BCG vaccine to protect early childhood against the most severe forms of tuberculosis.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Santo Domingo. &#8211; The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reviewed the actions carried out during the year in the execution of Dominican foreign policy, linked to the agenda and development plans of the country.
