We say that the oil belongs to our lands and Latin America is for the workers and the people.”\n\nDuring the protest, banners were observed with slogans such as \u201cDown with US aggression against Venezuela\u201d, \u201cYankees out of Latin America\u201d and \u201cWe will not be another star on the Yankee flag\u201d, in addition to flags of Venezuela and Cuba.\n\nPablo Almeida, leader of the union faction ‘A Luchar’ and delegate of the State Workers Association (ATE) told EFE in front of the US diplomatic headquarters: “We reject with all our might this new intrusion of Yankee imperialism in Latin American territory, this time with a brazenness not seen in 36 years, since the invasion of Panama.”\n\nAlmeida remarked that he does not support the Maduro government but stated: \u201cWe believe that the Latin American peoples have to mobilize, as we are doing here today, but in a much more organized way, until we defeat this new imperialist aggression.\u201d\n\nThe U.S. Embassy remains fenced off since the early hours of this Saturday and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires deployed a strong police operation in the surrounding streets.\n\nAccording to the Government of the city of Buenos Aires, since dawn the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security has arranged “a preventive reinforcement with special units and increased patrols by police personnel at embassies and residences of the United States and Venezuela.”\n\nProtests against the US attack were replicated in other cities of the country, such as Rosario, Mar del Plata, Neuqu\u00e9n and Salta, according to the convening organizations.\n\nArgentine President Javier Milei celebrated this Saturday the attack against Venezuela and offered his country’s help in the political transition in the country after Trump’s announcement that Washington will govern the Caribbean country for a while.\n\nTrump reported today that his country carried out “a large-scale attack against Venezuela” and indicated that “its leader, President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, has been, along with his wife, captured and taken out of the country by air.”\n\nThen, he assured that both were transported by helicopter to the USS Iwo Jima, a military vessel deployed in the Caribbean since the summer, and that from there they would be taken before a Federal court in New York, where the Venezuelan president is formally accused of four charges, including conspiracy for narcoterrorism.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
