Madrid.-<\/strong> The governments of Spain, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Uruguay expressed this Saturday their deep concern and rejection<\/strong> of the military actions carried out by the United States in Venezuelan territory, considering that they violate fundamental principles of international law and endanger regional peace and security.<\/p>\n\n\nIn a joint declaration<\/a>, the six countries warned that the use and threat of force contravene the Charter of the United Nations<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, as well as representing a dangerous precedent for Latin America and the Caribbean<\/strong> and for the Venezuelan civilian population.\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\nThe signatory governments reiterated that the crisis in Venezuela must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means<\/strong>, through dialogue, negotiation, and respect for the will of the Venezuelan people, without external interference. They emphasized that only an inclusive political process, led by the Venezuelans themselves, can lead to a democratic and sustainable solution.\n\nLikewise, they reaffirmed the regional commitment to the principle of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace<\/strong>, and called for regional unity in the face of any action that threatens the stability of the continent. In that context, they urged the UN Secretary-General, Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, and relevant multilateral organizations to use their good offices to de-escalate tensions and preserve regional peace<\/strong>.\n\n\n

Concern over control of natural resources in Venezuela <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nThe statement also expresses concern about any attempt at external control, administration, or appropriation of Venezuelan natural or strategic resources<\/strong>, considering that such actions are incompatible with international law and could worsen the political, economic, and social instability of the region.\n\nThe statement was signed by the governments of Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico and Uruguay<\/strong>, who agreed on the need for a firm and coordinated diplomatic response to the current situation in Venezuela.\n\n\n
