That causes more traffic jams, more expenses for workers and the early closure of many businesses,” said P\u00e9rez Figuereo.\n\n\n

You can also read:<\/strong> CNTU will open a night corridor to guarantee safe transportation in the early hours<\/a><\/h5>\n\n\nHe indicated that numerous businesses that could operate until 11:00 or 11:30 p.m. are forced to close around 9:00 p.m., because their employees do not have means of transportation to return to their homes.\n\nThat situation forces workers to pay high costs in taxis or motorcycles, which in many cases exceeds their income.\n\nFaced with this reality, the CNTU and the Kennedy Corridor Consortium decided to resume a night transport project that had existed for more than 30 years, supported by an operating permit initially granted by the OTTT and currently regulated by INTRANT, which authorizes the use of 25 units, each with a capacity for 18 passengers.\n\nThe service operates in the Kennedy Corridor, covering the route from kilometer 28 of the Duarte Highway to the intersection of Duarte Avenue with Paris, and will then extend towards Ciudad Juan Bosch.\n\nThe operating hours are from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM.\n\n\n
<\/figure>\n\n\nFor security reasons, the units will make stops both at established points and at the passenger’s location during the early hours of the morning. The fare will remain at 45 pesos, without variation compared to the regular urban service.\n\nP\u00e9rez Figuereo emphasized that this service is not aimed at the upper class, but at people with limited resources who do not own their own vehicle or do not have fuel to get around.\n\nAmong the main beneficiaries are workers in fry shops, restaurants, bars, gas stations, watchmen, airport personnel, as well as citizens who need to go to hospitals or the airport in an emergency at night.\n\nThe units have a corporate image and will be accompanied by a double cab pickup truck that will follow them discreetly. In addition, the CNTU has requested support from RD Vial, DIGESETT, the National Police and the Ministry of Defense, in order to protect both passengers and drivers and the personnel who work during the early hours of the morning.\n\n“The government doesn’t have to pay a single peso for this project. They are new units, personnel paid privately by the CNTU and the consortium. We have only received the corresponding license and await institutional support in security matters,” explained P\u00e9rez Figuereo.\n\nThe leader also pointed out that this initiative seeks to encourage the Dominican State to evaluate the extension of the Santo Domingo Metro and OMS\/OPRET schedules, fundamental services for the population that often leave citizens stranded when they close early.\n\n\n

We have the experience and the conviction that we are doing the right thing,” he concluded.\n\n\n
