The deal has not yet been officially confirmed by either team.\n\nCabrera is in his <strong>first year of salary arbitration eligibility<\/strong> and will remain under contractual control of the acquiring club until the end of the <strong>2028<\/strong> season.\n\nThe Dominican right-hander, who will turn <strong>28 in 2026<\/strong>, signed with the Marlins as part of the international class of <strong>2015<\/strong>. Throughout his first campaigns in the Major Leagues, he showed notable potential thanks to the quality of his repertoire, but his development as a starter was limited by recurrent control problems and a history of injuries, which included persistent blisters and discomfort in his throwing elbow.\n\nBetween <strong>2021 and 2024<\/strong>, Cabrera accumulated <strong>4.3 bWAR<\/strong>, with an <strong>ERA+ of 102<\/strong>, a <strong>WHIP of 1.347<\/strong>, <strong>5.1 walks per nine innings<\/strong> and <strong>10.0 strikeouts per nine innings<\/strong>, in <strong>63 appearances<\/strong>, 61 of them as a starter. In the 2023 season, when Miami was fighting for a postseason spot, the pitcher was sent to Triple-A and was not used in the National League Wild Card Series, mainly due to his difficulties with control.\n\nHis performance took a positive turn in <strong>2025<\/strong>, the year in which he recorded the best numbers of his career: <strong>26 starts<\/strong>, <strong>137.2 innings pitched<\/strong>, <strong>150 strikeouts<\/strong>, <strong>3.1 walks per nine innings<\/strong> and a ratio of <strong>3.13 strikeouts per walk<\/strong>. He closed the season with an <strong>ERA+ of 125<\/strong> and managed to complete at least seven innings in four starts, something he had only achieved on three occasions during his first four seasons.\n\nBetween <strong>May 4 and August 8<\/strong>, Cabrera maintained an <strong>ERA of 2.22<\/strong>, the third-best in the National League and the fourth-best in all of Major League Baseball in that period, only surpassed by <strong>Paul Skenes<\/strong>, <strong>Cristopher S\u00e1nchez<\/strong> and <strong>Framber Valdez<\/strong>.\n\nHowever, the season also included episodes related to his health. The pitcher left an opening on <strong>July 11<\/strong> due to discomfort in his right elbow, although he avoided the injured list thanks to the All-Star break.
