U.S. President Donald Trump announced this Friday the date on which he will hold a meeting with his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, after\u00a0months<\/a>\u00a0of threats, tensions and differences that strained relations between both governments, and which achieved a point of calm after a\u00a0phone call\u00a0between the two leaders this week.<\/p>\n\n\n“I look forward to meeting with Gustavo Petro<\/a>, President of Colombia, at the White House during the first week of February,” Trump expressed through Truth Social<\/a>, where he stated he was “sure” that this meeting<\/a> “will be very beneficial for Colombia and the U.S.”\n\nThe White House head remarked that a central theme in that meeting will be the need to “ban the entry of cocaine and other drugs into the U.S.”, alluding to his anti-drug policy, in which he has pointed to Colombia as one of the countries that exports the most drugs to the United States.\n\n\n
