Santo Domingo, DN.\u2013 <\/strong>The congresswoman Genia Vid\u00f3, <\/strong>representative of Dominicans abroad, positively valued the initiative Plastics for Toys, organized by the Mayor’s Office of the National District, considering that it is an action that combines organization, environmental awareness and direct support to families with limited resources<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\nDuring his participation in the activity, Vid\u00f3 congratulated the mayor of the National District for promoting an event that, according to what he expressed, “brings happiness to children and the neediest families,”<\/strong> while highlighting the growing organization and massive attendance of residents of the National District.\n\n\n

\u201cThe joy seen in the children, the way families participate, and the organization of the event demonstrate the positive impact of this initiative, which hopefully can be replicated in other municipalities of the country,\u201d<\/strong> the legislator pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\nWhen referring to the situation of Dominicans residing abroad, Vid\u00f3 stated that the current government has shown greater openness and attention to the needs of that community, highlighting the opening of new consulates, the enabling of offices for the management of pensions for citizens who worked in the Dominican Republic and now reside outside the country, as well as the presence of the Banco de Reservas abroad.\n\nHe also highlighted the incorporation of Customs offices in the consulates and the implementation of new procedures that allow for a more agile and efficient attention. However, he acknowledged that more consulates are still needed in distant states, although he assured that governmental support continues to increase.\n\nRegarding the Banco de Reservas office abroad, Vid\u00f3 described it as “a key step,” long demanded by the Dominican diaspora. She explained that, although it functions as a commercial office due to restrictions by the US government, it provides information and allows for the advancement of processes that expedite procedures when citizens visit the Dominican Republic.\n\n“The Dominican community needed this type of support. It is an achievement of the Reserve Bank and the government, which began in Europe and today is also replicated in cities like New York,” he expressed.\n\n\n
