What are the options?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nThere are two options to resolve the situation, university professor Pierre Antoine Louis said in an interview with EFE.\n\nHe suggested that either the political parties and civil society organizations reach an amendment on the Agreement, or that the Caribbean Community (Caricom)<\/strong> take over the leadership of the country.\n\n\n

It would be the beginning of the recovery of the responsibilities of the elites for a visionary, competent, and transparent governance of Haiti,” the lawyer said.\n\nAccording to the specialist, “maintaining the current collegiate formula is absolutely negative. It must cease, whatever its form. The CPT and the Fils-Aim\u00e9 government must leave the scene.”\n\nAntoine Louis is of the opinion that the president of the Court of Cassation should be invested as provisional president, as stipulated in the modified 1987 Constitution.\n\n\n

Avoid Chaos<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nDue to instability in security, political and institutional matters, elections have not been held in Haiti for at least 10 years.\n\nThe country’s authorities have declared 2026 an election year. The first round of legislative and presidential elections is scheduled for August 30, while a possible second round would be held on December 6.\n\nThe security conditions are far from adequate, as the metropolitan region of Port-au-Prince is controlled by gangs at least 90%, while Artibonite, the second department in electoral terms, is dominated by gangs in 50%.\n\nFor the political scientist, an institutional void is not conceivable. “Because, somehow, there will be a formula to replace the current system of government.”\n\n\n

Council Concerns<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nAt the beginning of this January, the president of the CPT, Laurent Saint-Cyr, called for dialogue.\n\n“I call on all Haitians, wherever they may be. Let us overcome our divisions. Let us move forward on the path of stability. Let us choose Haiti first.”\n\nFor him, the elections are the means to restore legitimacy, stability, and trust.\n\n“Dialogue is a tool of responsibility. It’s the best way to avoid falling into chaos, especially now that February 7th is approaching,” he added.\n\nFor Saint-Cyr, the moment demands “that we put aside distractions and everything that could destabilize the transition.
