Caracas.- Chavistas<\/strong> trusted this Sunday that, faced with international pressure, an agreement will be reached to release President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores,<\/strong> who were captured in a United States operation in Caracas on January 3rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our war is going to be diplomatic (…). Because of that global pressure, because of the pressure and mobilization in the streets in Venezuela, we believe that there could be an agreement,”<\/strong> said Eduardo Cubill\u00e1n, a militant of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may be interested in: <\/strong>http:\/\/El Vaticano confirm\u00f3 que intent\u00f3 un acuerdo con Maduro para su exilio de Venezuela<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nFrom a Caracas square, where those affiliated with the ruling party gathered to write letters in support of Maduro, Cubill\u00e1n affirmed that Venezuela had a “tactical defeat” against the United States, but, he added, obtained a “political victory”.\n\n“That political victory caused not only Venezuela to rise up in the streets, it caused the world to rise up<\/strong>“, he assured.\n\nIn his opinion, the streets are “wrapped between pain and rage” due to the “audacity” of the “imperial boot”, referring to the United States attack in Caracas and surrounding states, which caused at least 100 deaths, 112 injuries and material damage in 463 apartments in Caracas, according to official information.\n\nSince the capture of the Venezuelan president and his wife, Chavismo has called for demonstrations to demand the release of both and has promised not to rest until they are brought back to Venezuela.\n\nProtesters have also backed Delcy Rodr\u00edguez as acting president, a position she assumed on January 5 after being summoned by the Supreme Court of Justice.\n\nIn parallel, relatives of political prisoners remain outside several prisons, where they have spent the night for weeks to demand the release of their relatives after the President of the Parliament, Jorge Rodr\u00edguez, announced the release of a “significant number” of people on January 8.\n\nSeveral NGOs and activists denounce that the release process is advancing “drop by drop” and demand the publication of an official list with the number of people benefited, which would provide certainty to the families of around 700 political prisoners counted by Foro Penal.\n\nHowever, this record has not yet been disseminated.\n\nBetween 139 and 155 political prisoners have been released in Venezuela since January 8th until Saturday, according to the count of the NGO Foro Penal and the largest opposition coalition, Plataforma Unitaria Democr\u00e1tica.\n\nThe Venezuelan Executive assures that the country is “free of political prisoners” and that those identified as such are imprisoned for the “commission of terrible punishable acts.” ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
