Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump<\/strong> stated this Tuesday that he might “involve” the Venezuelan opposition leader, Mar\u00eda Corina Machado,<\/strong> in the future of Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\nThe Republican leader made this statement during a press conference on the occasion of the first anniversary of his return to power and after the meeting he held last week at the White House with Machado,<\/strong> who presented him with the medal of his Nobel Peace Prize.\n\n\n

Maybe we can involve her somehow. I’d love to be able to do it. Maria, maybe we can do it,”<\/strong> she stated.\n\nTrump expressed himself in these terms after stating that Venezuela previously sent the United States its “drug traffickers and prisoners”<\/strong>, a situation that changed after the capture of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro.\n\n“I was against Venezuela, but now I love Venezuela”<\/strong>, Trump said, who added that he has been “working very well” with the new Government of the acting president, Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, ex-vice president of Maduro and who took power after his overthrow.\n\nThe president explained that oil companies are preparing to make “massive investments” in Venezuela, a country that “has more oil than even Saudi Arabia.”\n\nOn January 3rd, U.S. forces deposed Nicol\u00e1s Maduro during an attack in Venezuela that resulted in the capture and transfer of the Chavista leader and his wife, Cilia Flores, to New York, where both face charges of drug trafficking.\n\nTrump then announced that his country would govern in Venezuela and subsequently backed the new Government of Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, assuring that it is complying with all of Washington’s demands, including access to the Venezuelan oil sector.\n\nSo far, the United States has excluded Machado from the transition process, considering that he does not have enough internal support to lead the country.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
