San Luis. <\/strong>\u2013 Relatives of the young Robert Alexander Esca\u00f1o, 19 years old, reported an altercation that occurred during his funeral procession, after agents of the National Police<\/a> allegedly intervened in the caravan and seized the coffin in the middle of the route, in the municipal district of San Luis, Santo Domingo Este municipality.<\/p>\n\n\nAmidst the outrage, they insisted that Robert Alexander Esca\u00f1o was not a criminal and that, although he may have had conflicts in the past, his circle claims he was distanced from that life.\n\nAccording to the complainants, the cortege was proceeding “in order and peacefully” when it was intercepted in the section known as “las mediciones del 9” and “9 de la Mella”, where, according to their account, members of the Police blocked the hearse. They claim that the family intended to take a brief tour of the area as a symbolic farewell, but the action would have been prevented by the authorities, which generated tension in the midst of the mourning.\n\n\n

They also denounced that the coffin was treated disrespectfully, alleging that “they threw it several times”, which increased community unrest.\n\n“We are helpless, because they do not respect the pain of others. We were coming peacefully and we were intercepted by guards, police and marines,” said Santiago Navarro Soriano.\n\nAnother community member indicated that the intervention originated because the authorities did not want to allow the body to pass through the area where the young man resided.\n\n“We wanted to pay our respects in his neighborhood, 10 minutes, as a farewell.
