Santo Domingo<\/strong>. \u2013 The National Competition Defense Commission (ProCompetencia<\/a>) received the ISO 9001:2015 certification, which supports the conformity of its Quality Management System (QMS) with international standards, consolidating an unprecedented institutional milestone in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n


With this ProCompetencia certification, it becomes the first authority in Central America and the Caribbean and the second in Latin America to comply with this international standard, positioning the Dominican Republic as a regional benchmark in institutional strengthening, transparency, and good practices in public management.<\/p>\n\n\n


The president of the Board of Directors of ProCompetencia, Mar\u00eda Elena V\u00e1squez Taveras, highlighted that this achievement responds to a strategic decision aimed at raising the standards of public management and strengthening the technical legitimacy of the institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Quality in processes is not an accessory element for a competition authority; it is an essential requirement for coherence, predictability, and citizen trust. This certification reaffirms our commitment to transparency, continuous improvement, and public service,” he expressed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n


V\u00e1squez Taveras emphasized that the ISO 9901:2015 certification guarantees the existence of clear, measurable, and standardized processes, aligned with international standards, which strengthens institutional continuity and the trust of economic agents, public authorities, and citizens in general.<\/p>\n\n\n


Likewise, he emphasized that this type of accreditation has a direct impact on economic governance and the country’s business climate, by contributing to the attraction of investments and the strengthening of the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n


“This has an impact on citizen trust because when processes are transparent and rules are respected, citizen trust is generated,” he expressed.<\/p>\n\n


The certificate was presented by Ariel Espejo, director of AENOR in the Dominican Republic, who highlighted that obtaining this certification represents a significant step for ProCompetencia and demonstrates the process of institutional transformation that the country is experiencing and the growing commitment of the public sector to excellence and continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n


The director of AENOR agreed with the president of ProCompetencia that this achievement not only strengthens confidence in the institution, but also in the State as a whole, by becoming a factor that favors the attraction of investments and contributes to the dynamism of the economy.<\/p>\n\nFurthermore, it was pointed out that ProCompetencia not only received the Certificate of the Quality Management System from AENOR, but also that of the International Quality Network (IQNET), the largest network of certifiers internationally, which constitutes a double endorsement that adds value to this accreditation.\n\n


The president of ProCompetencia highlighted that this achievement is the result of the sustained work of a team of women and men committed to excellence and the strengthening of public institutions, and reiterated that the certification does not constitute an arrival point, but a permanent commitment to continuous improvement.<\/p>\n\n


“This certification obliges us to constantly maintain and raise the standards of public management, in line with our mission to guarantee free and fair competition for the benefit of all citizens,” he concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n
