The alleged events occurred in the Dominican Republic, specifically at Iglesias’ mansion in Punta Cana (east), one of the complainants is Dominican and the singer holds Dominican nationality, “therefore the case is evidently the jurisdiction of the Dominican Republic, not Spain,” Dominican jurist and academic C\u00e1ndido Sim\u00f3n told EFE.<\/p>\n\n\nOn Friday, the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office concluded that the legal requirements were not met for the Justice system to investigate the complaint because, as argued, the Spanish Organic Law on the Judiciary requires, among other things, that the accused be a Spanish citizen, that there is no open procedure in the place where the events allegedly occurred or in an international court, and that there is a “material connection with Spain”, for example, that the victims are Spanish or residents in the country.\n\n\n
