Even regions without snow, such as Pittsburgh, will feel the impact of the wind and extreme cold.\n\nExperts point out that the phenomenon will be intensified by the combination of Arctic air and unusually warm waters from the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Stream in the Atlantic. This mixture favors the rapid fall in atmospheric pressure, leading to so-called bombogenesis, capable of generating severe blizzards and snow accumulations that could bury vehicles.\n\nThe cold will also advance south.
