Mexico, for its part, scored a run in the first inning, two in the seventh and another in the ninth, falling short in its comeback attempt.\n\nReliever <strong>Kenny Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong> was credited with the victory, while <strong>Manny Ba\u00f1uelos<\/strong> took the loss. <strong>Jimmy Cordero<\/strong> closed the ninth inning to earn the save and <strong>Jeffry Yan<\/strong> shone in the eighth, retiring the inning with authority and two strikeouts.\n\nBy Mexico, <strong>Michael Wielansky<\/strong> had a perfect night, batting 4-4, while <strong>Mateo Gil<\/strong>, despite connecting only one hit, drove in three runs.\n\nBa\u00f1uelos worked four and a third innings, allowed five runs, six hits, gave three walks and struck out three batters. Also took the mound for the Charros <strong>Mario Meza<\/strong>, <strong>Luis M\u00e1rquez<\/strong> and <strong>Jes\u00fas Cruz<\/strong>.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the Leones, the starting pitcher <strong>Oscar de la Cruz<\/strong> pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowed three runs, four hits, gave three walks and struck out five rivals. The Dominican relief was in charge of <strong>Kenny Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>, <strong>Luis Fr\u00edas<\/strong> and <strong>Alex Colom\u00e9<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nThe Charros opened the scoring in the first inning against Oscar de la Cruz. <strong>Connor Hollis<\/strong> started the episode, <strong>Michael Wielansky<\/strong> hit a single and, after a walk to <strong>Willie Calhoun<\/strong>, <strong>Mateo Gil<\/strong> grounded out to shortstop to force at second, allowing Hollis to score the first run of the game.\n\nIn the third inning, the Lions took a 2-1 lead when <strong>Junior Lake<\/strong>, with two outs and the bases loaded, hit a double to left field, driving in <strong>Erik Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong> and <strong>S\u00f3crates Brito<\/strong>.\n\nIn the fifth inning, the Dominicans extended the lead. <strong>Gustavo N\u00fa\u00f1ez<\/strong> led off with a walk, stole second base, and scored on a run-scoring single by <strong>Erik Gonz\u00e1lez<\/strong>.
