Santo Domingo.<\/strong> Guillermo P\u00e9rez Chic\u00f3n, known as Guillo P\u00e9rez<\/strong>, was one of the most outstanding and recognized painters of the Dominican Republic, whose work profoundly marked the visual arts of the country. Throughout his career he held numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally and was awarded on multiple occasions for his artistic talent.<\/p>\n\n\nP\u00e9rez was born on August 3, 1923<\/strong>, and after his arrival in Santo Domingo in 1955, he played important roles in the country’s cultural life: he was president of the Dominican College of Plastic Artists<\/strong> and director of the School of Fine Arts<\/strong> in La Vega and Santo Domingo, contributing to the training of several generations of artists.\n\nGuillo P\u00e9rez’s legacy continues through his family. Among his children, Willy P\u00e9rez<\/strong> stands out, who directs the art school founded by his father and has also developed a notable career as a visual artist, as well as Gabrielle P\u00e9rez<\/strong> and Guillermo P\u00e9rez III<\/strong>.\n\n\n

The case is being investigated by the authorities, who are working to clarify the circumstances of the event.\n\nThis painful event has generated shock in the cultural sphere and among those who knew the artist and his family, while also recalling the impact that Guillo P\u00e9rez’s work had on Dominican plastic arts.\n\nGuillo P\u00e9rez passed away in Santo Domingo on March 9, 2014<\/strong> due to health complications, leaving an artistic legacy that lives on through his works and the work of those who knew and admired him. Among his most outstanding pieces are: Flores<\/em> (2010), Momento<\/em> (2002), Carreta<\/em> (2010), Intensidad<\/em> (2002), Estampida<\/em> (2002), Ciudad<\/em> (2002), Acontecimiento<\/em> (2002), Ca\u00f1onazo de la Restauraci\u00f3n<\/em> (2000) and Autorretrato<\/em> (1981).\n\nGuillo P\u00e9rez will be remembered as a master of color and the spatula, whose influence endures in the Dominican art scene.\n\n\n
