WASHINGTON.\u2013<\/strong> The stellar power forward Anthony Davis<\/strong>, ten-time All-Star selection, is heading into a new chapter in his career after being traded to the Washington Wizards<\/strong> in an eight-player exchange with the Dallas Mavericks<\/strong>, according to coinciding reports from multiple media outlets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The player will not require surgery and is still within the estimated recovery time of four to six weeks from the time of the injury.\n\nThe power forward suffered the injury while defending a drive by Lauri Markkanen<\/strong> in the final minutes of Dallas’ 116-114 loss to the Utah Jazz.\n\n\n

      A New Nucleus in Washington<\/h3>\n\n\nWith Davis’ arrival, the Wizards continue to strengthen their project after acquiring All-Star Trae Young<\/strong> last month. Young remains out with a right knee injury and quadriceps contusion, with a return expected after the All-Star break.\n\nOnce both are healthy, Washington will have a core led by Davis and Young<\/strong>, complemented by the young center Alex Sarr<\/strong>, in addition to emerging talents such as Kyshawn George, Bub Carrington and Bilal Coulibaly<\/strong>, along with the outstanding rookie Tre Johnson<\/strong>.\n\n\n

      Injury History and Outlook in Dallas<\/h3>\n\n\nThis is Davis’s second extended absence of the season<\/strong>, after missing 15 of 16 games in November due to a calf strain, in addition to a groin injury previously suffered.\n\nSince his arrival in Dallas in February of last year, Davis has had an intermittent health record, missing 40 of the team’s 71 games<\/strong>, including the two Play-In Tournament games of last season.\n\nFor the Mavericks, the move represents a clear focus on the development of the star rookie Cooper Flagg<\/strong>, freeing up space in the interior rotation.
