{"id":499424,"date":"2026-02-05T12:58:13","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T16:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/ecuadors-flower-export-volume-for-valentines-day-could-reach-39-thousand-tons-this-year\/"},"modified":"2026-02-05T12:58:13","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T16:58:13","slug":"ecuadors-flower-export-volume-for-valentines-day-could-reach-39-thousand-tons-this-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/international\/ecuadors-flower-export-volume-for-valentines-day-could-reach-39-thousand-tons-this-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Ecuador&#8217;s flower export volume for Valentine&#8217;s Day could reach 39 thousand tons this year"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Predicts that the export volume of flowers for Valentine&#8217;s Day will increase from 37,000 tons in 2025 to approximately 39,000.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Quito.- <\/strong>Every year, when <strong>Valentine&#8217;s Day<\/strong> approaches, the activity in the <strong>flower farms of Ecuador<\/strong> accelerates to transport millions of roses from the cold Andes to a multitude of countries where they will become a warm symbol of love, consolidating Ecuador as the third largest exporter of flowers in the world after the Netherlands and Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\nAlejandro Mart\u00ednez, executive president of the national association of flower producers and exporters (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expoflores.com\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.expoflores.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Expoflores<\/a>), predicts that the export volume of flowers for Valentine&#8217;s Day will increase from <strong>37,000 tons in 2025 to about 39,000<\/strong>.\n\nHowever, it estimates revenues of between $274 and $276 million, down from $282 million in 2025, due, among other things, to the 15% tariff imposed by Donald Trump, which was added to the 6.8% that <strong>already taxed flower exports to the U.S.<\/strong>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ecuador produces more than <strong>800 varieties of flowers<\/strong>, with roses as the focus of exports, as they are sought after for their shine thanks to the altitude at which they are planted, the luminosity and the temperature in the country.<\/h2>\n\n\nHundreds of hands sow, cultivate, harvest and pack the flowers &#8211; mainly roses &#8211; on farms located near Quito, where workers like Lizbhet classify thousands of roses daily.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to the number of varieties, <strong>Lizbeth cannot list all the ones she has known for eight months<\/strong>, since she arrived at the farm located in Cayambe, where, along with other workers, she checks that the rose buds &#8220;do not have any disease, that they are not mistreated&#8221;, before they are put together in packages of up to 25 stems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/rosas-ecuador-efe-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-605685\" style=\"width:690px;height:auto\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">ACOMPA\u00d1A CR\u00d3NICA ECUADOR FLORES AME2191.
