They have specialized equipment to provide life support at the scene, strengthening care before hospital transfer.\n\nOn his part, <strong>Juan Manuel M\u00e9ndez Garc\u00eda, <\/strong>executive director of the <strong>DAEH,<\/strong> reported that since 2025 the institution has received 235 ambulances, to which are added 60 so far in 2026, including the 50 delivered today and 10 destined for the expansion of the service in Constanza and Jima, in La Vega. He indicated that, in total, 377 ambulances have been incorporated during his administration.\n\nM\u00e9ndez detailed that the DAEH currently has 8,712 collaborators, including 1,525 doctors, 2,361 technicians in sanitary transport, 3,435 nursing staff and 1,384 administrative staff. He highlighted that, with the support of President Abinader, historical difficulties related to salaries, uniforms and personnel identification were overcome.\n\nRegarding operational results, it was specified that in 2025, pre-hospital assistance was provided to 548,323 people, 65,290 inter-hospital transfers were carried out, and 1,582 neonatal transfers were performed. It was announced that 10 of the new ambulances will be used to strengthen neonatal transfers, with a view to reducing infant mortality.\n\nWhile pronouncing the central words, Minister Jos\u00e9 Ignacio Paliza valued the transformation of the emergency system since 2020, when more than 65% of the ambulances presented operational failures. He indicated that today the country has more than 376 new ambulances, a strengthened and independent DAEH, certified personnel and response times equal to or below international standards.\n\nPaliza also announced the expansion of the ambulance service to Constanza and Jima starting next week, and later to the province of Montecristi, as part of the national coverage plan initiated in Pedernales.
