Santo Domingo.- <\/strong>The Senate President, Ricardo de los Santos<\/strong>, informed that the new legislature that begins this February 27 will have as its central axis the discussion and approval of projects considered fundamental for the institutional and social development of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n“The Labor Code, the reform to the Social Security Law, the Water Law and the police reform will be a priority in this new stage,”<\/strong> the legislator affirmed, noting that work will also be done on initiatives related to mental health, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and a law for alerts for disappearances.\n\n\n

You may be interested in<\/strong>: Senate of the Republic plants more than 2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nDe los Santos explained that these are proposals that require broad consensus and technical analysis. \u201cThey are not simple projects; they involve in-depth studies, sectoral consultations, and legislative responsibility,\u201d<\/strong> he said.\n\nThe Senate President assured that there is the necessary political will to move forward with those reforms and emphasized that Congress has demonstrated a capacity for work during the last legislature.\n\n\n

Approved Initiatives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nIn that sense, he highlighted that in the second legislature 197 initiatives were approved, a result, according to him, of a rigorous process in both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.\n\n\n

\u201cEach project goes through a process of constitutional study, analysis in committees, and technical debates before reaching the assembly. Legislative work is not limited to raising your hand,\u201d<\/strong> he expressed.<\/p>\n\n\nHe indicated that many of the approved initiatives directly impact areas such as infrastructure, institutional framework, transparency, and social development.\n\nLikewise, he valued the role of the Senate’s standing committees, assuring that they have been key to streamlining the work without sacrificing the quality of the discussions.\n\n\n
