You can also read: Samana has 16 new classrooms<\/a><\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\nThe governor highlighted that the phenomenon occurred unexpectedly, as the province was not under alert, according to INDOMET maps, and reiterated the government’s commitment, representing President Luis Abinader, to offer an efficient and timely response.\n\nFor his part, Mayor Eduardo Esteban Polanco (Willy) reported that some 200 homes were affected, mainly in the communities of La Granja, Ca\u00f1o Seco, La Ceiba, Abra Grande, Barrio Codestel and the Hospital area. He explained that the immediate actions included the activation of shelters, the preventive mobilization of families, the cleaning and viability of roads, as well as the intervention of rivers and beaches to remove debris.\n\nThe mayor pointed out that the city council is evaluating, together with the Council of Aldermen, the possibility of declaring the municipality in a state of emergency, which would facilitate a more agile response from national institutions.\n\nPresent at the event were Jos\u00e9 Acosta, DASAC’s deputy director; Damelia Zapata, national deputy director of Sup\u00e9rate; Carolina Mateo, provincial coordinator of DASAC; and councilors Wanifer D\u00edaz and Yamil Adames, who supported the measures taken to mitigate the effects of the rains and protect the affected population .<\/a>\n\n\n
