The President of the United States, Donald Trump<\/strong>, assured this Sunday that the new leadership of Iran established after the death of Ayatollah Ali Jamenei has asked to speak with Washington and that he has agreed to it.<\/p>\n\n\n“They want to talk and I have agreed to talk, so we are going to talk to them. They should have done it before. They should have conceded earlier on something that is very practical and easy. They have waited too long,” Trump said from his mansion in Mar-a-Lago in a telephone interview with ‘The Atlantic’ magazine.\n\n\n

When asked when those conversations would be, if today or tomorrow, Trump has not wanted to specify. “I can’t tell you that,” he said before recalling that some of the Iranians who have participated in the latest negotiations have died in the American and Israeli bombings.<\/p>\n\n\n“Most of those people are no longer here. Some of those we were dealing with are no longer here because it has been big. It has been a big blow,” he has emphasized. They should have done it before<\/strong>. They have been too clever,” he argued.\n\n\n

The US president has also been asked about the duration of the bombing campaign launched on Saturday and whether it will affect the will of the internal opposition to overthrow the Iranian government. “I have to study the situation when it happens. That question cannot be answered,” he argued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, he has expressed his confidence that there will be an uprising against the Islamic Republic<\/strong> that will be successful and has mentioned the celebrations in the streets of Iran and the support of emigrants in cities like New York or Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, he has expressed his satisfaction with the reaction of the Iranian people. “They know it’s very dangerous. They know I’ve told them to stay put. I think it’s a very dangerous place right now,” he indicated. “People are shouting in the streets with joy, but at the same time many bombs are falling,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Internally, Trump has assured that the attack on Iran will not affect the midterm elections scheduled for November and has recalled the economic successes of his administration. “We have the best economy the country has ever had. You don’t hear more because people like you don’t write about it properly, but the economy is about to go through the roof and in some cases it already has,” he has highlighted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, he has assured that the effect of the attack against Iran<\/strong> on the price of oil will not be so great on the pockets of Americans. “It could have caused a large increase in the price of oil if things had gone wrong,” he argued. “We’ll see what happens.
