Canc\u00fan.- <\/strong>The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, received this Thursday in Canc\u00fan, in the Mexican Caribbean mexicano<\/a>, the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in a meeting where they will address commercial cooperation, investment, education and culture, shortly before the signing of the modernization of the agreement with the European Union (EU).<\/p>\n\n\nThe Mexican ruler received Steinmeier at the Mayan Museum of Cancun around noon, accompanied by members of her cabinet and German officials.\n\nAmong the members of the president’s legal cabinet were the chancellor, Juan Ram\u00f3n de la Fuente; the Secretary of the Treasury, Edgar Amador; the Secretary of Energy, Luz Elena Gonz\u00e1lez, and the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard.\n\n\n

Relationship between Mexico and Germany<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Following a previous meeting, Chancellor De la Fuente emphasized in a statement that “German companies have played an essential role in the development of the industrial base mexicana<\/a>, particularly in sectors such as automotive, engineering, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and advanced manufacturing”.<\/p>\n\n\nLikewise, he indicated that Mexico is Germany’s main trading partner in Latin America, with more than 2,100 German companies operating in the country and generating more than 300,000 jobs.\n\nBoth led a brief ceremonial protocol in which the national anthems of Mexico and Germany were sung, and then toured the venue.\n\n\n
