Caracas.-<\/strong> The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodr\u00edguez, received this Thursday representatives of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee who are visiting Caracas, as part of the “peace dialogue” between both countries, reported the state-owned channel Venezolana de Televisi\u00f3n (VTV).<\/p>\n\n\nThe meeting was held at the Miraflores Palace, headquarters of the Executive of Venezuela, headed by Rodr\u00edguez since the capture of Nicol\u00e1s Maduro last January by US forces, amid a series of attacks on the Caribbean nation.\nAlong with the representatives of the US Senate was the Charg\u00e9 d’Affaires of the North American country in Venezuela, Laura Dogu.\n\nAlso participating in the meeting were the head of the Venezuelan mission in the U.S., former Foreign Minister F\u00e9lix Plasencia, and the Vice Minister for Europe and North America, Oliver Blanco.\n\n\n

US and Venezuela Relations Expand<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nBoth delegations held a \u00abrespectful conversation in the context of the peace dialogue\u00bb with the US, assured VTV, which broadcast images of the meeting without giving details of what was discussed.\n\nThe press team of Rodr\u00edguez said in a note that the US delegation is making a “technical and political” visit to Caracas that “continues the roadmap established” between both countries and that prioritizes “direct communication to manage historical divergences and strengthen energy cooperation in the face of global challenges”.\n\nRodr\u00edguez met with this delegation after swearing in the new designated ministers on Wednesday, including the Minister of Defense, General-in-Chief Gustavo Gonz\u00e1lez L\u00f3pez, sanctioned by the U.S., the European Union (EU) and other countries for human rights violations, and who replaced Vladimir Padrino L\u00f3pez, who held the position since 2014.\n\n\n
