This crime results in, among other effects, the orphanhood of the victims’ children.\n\nFaced with this situation, congresswoman Valeria Cruz Flores proposed to reform various provisions of the Law on the Rights of Girls, Boys and Adolescents of Mexico City, with the aim that minors who face the loss of their mother as a result of femicide, can recover and continue their development.\n\nThe initiative seeks to modify Article 115 and add Article 115 Bis of the aforementioned ordinance, regarding orphanhood derived from the crime of femicide, to allow authorities to activate comprehensive care mechanisms.\n\nThis last one with the aim of protecting their rights, to give them<\/a> support in their recovery process, to guarantee their access to physical and mental health services, and to facilitate their entry into social support programs.\n\n\n

May they have priority access to physical and mental health services; may their incorporation into educational and social support programs be facilitated,\u201d he pointed out.\n\nThe also President of the Health Commission of the local Congress specified that the objective is to accompany children and adolescents in the reconstruction of their future after losing their mother for that cause, and that even entire families have had to rethink their lives after a femicide.\n\nAccording to data presented in the initiative, published in the Parliamentary Gazette, in 2019 the municipalities of Iztapalapa, Gustavo A. Madero, and Cuauht\u00e9moc were the ones with the highest number of investigation files opened for the crime of femicide, with 88, 57, and 56 cases, respectively.\n\nThe initiative was turned over, for its analysis and ruling, to the Joint Commissions on Child Development and Gender Equality.\n\nThe Board of Directors reported that the initiative has the support of the Morena parliamentary group, as well as deputies Mar\u00eda del Rosario Morales Ramos and Gerardo Villanueva Albarr\u00e1n, members of the Progressive Transformation Parliamentary Association (APPT).\n\nLegislators Jannete Elizabeth Guerrero Maya and Diana Barrag\u00e1n S\u00e1nchez, both from the Labor Party (PT), and Diana S\u00e1nchez Barrios, coordinator of the Parliamentary Association Women for Feminist and Inclusive Trade (APMCFI), also added their support.\n\nThe approval of the initiative could set a precedent in addressing the orphanhood caused by femicide in Mexico City.\n\nSource: INFOBAE<\/strong>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
