The highest distinction, \u201c<strong>Best Short Film Semana M\u00e1s Corta 2026\u201d<\/strong>, was awarded to the short film \u201cEl colmad\u00f3n\u201d, by students Mar\u00eda Fernanda S\u00e1nchez and Mar\u00eda Laura Ben P\u00e9rez. \u201cEl colmad\u00f3n\u201d, a fiction that portrays the identity of these spaces through the story of its owner, don Manuel, and his desire to sell the business to retire in New York, also won \u201c<strong>Best Direction<\/strong>\u201d and \u201c<strong>Best Editing<\/strong>\u201d.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;\u201c<strong>Best Screenplay\u201d<\/strong> was awarded to \u201cUn regard\u201d, by student Lolie Ta\u00edna Bogen, an experimental short film about the memories of a man who lost his sight. In the <strong>\u201cBest Documentary\u201d<\/strong> category, the winner was \u201cApartadas, pero no solas\u201d, also by Lolie Ta\u00edna Bogen, an entry that follows the daily life of a nun inside her convent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>We recommend reading:<a href=\"https:\/\/ab.deultimominuto.net\/estilo\/santiago-rodriguez-cortometraje\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">They present a short film about the province of Santiago Rodr\u00edguez<\/a><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\nThe recognition for \u201c<strong>Best Photography\u201d<\/strong> went to <strong>\u201cSteel Sun\u201d,<\/strong> a work by M\u00eda Arache Germos\u00e9n, inspired by the story \u201cLa mujer\u201d by Juan Bosch. Likewise, \u201cDe guitarra y coraz\u00f3n\u201d, by students Albanelys Taveras and Chantal Gonz\u00e1lez, was distinguished as \u201c<strong>Best Audiovisual Thesis\u201d<\/strong>. This short documentary analyzes bachata as a musical genre intimately linked to Dominican history, struggle, and traditions.\n\nThe \u201c<strong>Audience Award<\/strong>\u201d was won by \u201cI&#8217;m starving,\u201d by Hannah Wagner, a drama about a young graduate poet of performing arts. And \u201c<strong>Best Interuniversity Short<\/strong>\u201d went to the drama <strong>\u201cLacuna,\u201d<\/strong> by student Diana Tejada, representing Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). It tells the story of a young filmmaker&#8217;s crisis as she struggles to finish a short film about her father.\n\nThe jury that evaluated these works was composed of the president of the Dominican Association of Press and Film Criticism, <strong>Dahiana Acosta; <\/strong>by the publicist, film analyst and also a member of the film criticism association, <strong>Jos\u00e9 Aquino, <\/strong>and by the architect and photographer, member of the Cinependiente collective, <strong>Smayle Dom\u00ednguez.<\/strong>\n\nThis edition was dedicated to Dominican literature and its influence on cinema.
