Bolsonaro’s Health Problems<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nThe former head of state (2029-2022), 71 years old, continues with antibiotic treatment and receiving respiratory and motor physiotherapy.\n\nThe former president’s health problems are attributed by Bolsonaro to the stabbing he suffered in 2018 during the elections and since he was convicted, according to his family, the situation has worsened in recent months with recurrent bouts of hiccups, dizziness and vomiting.\n\nHis lawyers have requested on several occasions to the Supreme Court to grant the former president house arrest for “humanitarian” reasons and although to date all appeals have been rejected, it seems that the situation may change in the coming days.\n\n\n

House Arrest<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nThis same Monday, the Brazilian Attorney General’s Office spoke in favor of granting house arrest to the former president for health reasons, in response to a request from the Supreme Court of Justice.\n\nThe Attorney General, Paulo Gonet, maintained that the former president’s state of health requires constant attention which, in his opinion, can be better provided in a family environment.\n\n“It has been proven that the health condition of the applicant for house arrest requires the constant and careful attention that the family environment, but not the current penitentiary system, is in a position to provide,” declared the head of the Public Prosecutor’s Office in his writing, to which EFE had access.\n\nThe final decision on a possible change of regime rests with the investigating judge of the case in the Supreme Court who put Bolsonaro behind bars, Alexandre de Moraes, who will have to analyze the defense’s request in the coming days.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
