{"id":502903,"date":"2026-03-24T20:47:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T00:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/ministry-of-environment-presents-the-national-environmental-award-2026\/"},"modified":"2026-03-24T20:47:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T00:47:47","slug":"ministry-of-environment-presents-the-national-environmental-award-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.com\/en\/uncategorized\/ministry-of-environment-presents-the-national-environmental-award-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Environment presents the National Environmental Award 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>Santo Domingo.\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources announced the launch of the 2026 National Environmental Award, an initiative aimed at recognizing the <strong>best practices<\/strong> of environmental protection, <strong>sustainable use<\/strong> of natural resources and innovation in <strong>sustainability<\/strong> in the Dominican Republic.\n\nThis award, driven under the leadership of Minister <strong>Pa\u00edno Henr\u00edquez<\/strong>, and based on article 66 of the <strong>General Law on the Environment (64-00)<\/strong>, broadens its scope compared to previous editions \u2014held under the name of National Cleaner Production Award\u2014 to integrate a <strong>more inclusive vision<\/strong> that encompasses not only the productive sector, but also <strong>research, innovation and sustainable public management<\/strong>.\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In previous statements, the Minister of Environment, Pa\u00edno Henr\u00edquez, highlighted that,&nbsp;<em>\u201cThe National Environmental Award marks the path towards a sustainable Dominican Republic, where economic development and environmental protection are not opposites, but strategic allies; only in this way can we build a more resilient future, based on efficiency, innovation and respect for our natural resources\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\nThe coordination of the National Environmental Award will be in charge of the Directorate of Sustainable Production and Consumption of the Vice Ministry of Climate Change and Sustainability, headed by <strong>Carlos Daniel Taveras<\/strong>, with the support of various dependencies of the Ministry and possible allies from the <strong>public and academic sector<\/strong>.\n\nWe recommend reading:\n\n<em>\u201cFrom the Production and Sustainable Consumption Directorate, we are promoting this award as a platform to showcase and scale initiatives that are transforming the way we produce, research, and manage our resources. We are committed to recognizing concrete solutions that provide environmental value and can be replicated throughout the country,\u201d<\/em> expressed director Carlos Daniel Taveras.\n\nThe National Environmental Award, supported by&nbsp;<strong>Resolution No. 0011\/2026,<\/strong>&nbsp;will have four main categories:&nbsp;<strong>Cleaner Production,<\/strong>&nbsp;aimed at the business sector;&nbsp;<strong>Research<\/strong>, focused on the academic field at technical, secondary, and university levels;&nbsp;<strong>Innovation,<\/strong>&nbsp;open to individuals, organizations, and NGOs that develop solutions to environmental challenges, and&nbsp;<strong>Institutional Management<\/strong>, intended for public entities that promote improvements in their environmental performance.\n\nWith this initiative, the Ministry seeks to promote <strong>sustainable competitiveness<\/strong>, encourage the <strong>circular economy<\/strong>, foster research applied to <strong>environmental issues<\/strong>, and strengthen the articulation between the <strong>productive, academic, and institutional<\/strong> sectors. Likewise, the award aims to position <strong>environmental management<\/strong> as a key axis of the <strong>economic development<\/strong> of the country.\n\nThe award process will last for <strong>eight months<\/strong>, structured in three stages: promotion and application of projects, technical evaluation and selection of winners, and finally the presentation of awards, scheduled for <strong>December 2026<\/strong>.
