Israel endured one of the most intense days of attacks since the beginning of the conflict with Iran<\/strong>, with ten waves of Iranian missiles in less than twelve hours and more than a hundred projectiles launched by Hezbollah <\/a>from Lebanon, in an escalation that left one dead in the northern coastal city of Nahariya and at least 22 minor injuries throughout the country.<\/p>\n\n\nThe Magen David Adom emergency service registered the first alarms shortly before seven in the morning, local time, and the last ones past six in the afternoon, in a succession of Iranian barrages directed mainly at the Tel Aviv region and the center of the country,<\/strong> with some also targeting Jerusalem and the port city of Haifa. None of those projectiles caused any fatalities, nor were any direct impacts reported on Israeli soil, although military censorship prevents the dissemination of information about possible impacts on critical infrastructure.\n\nThe only fatality of the day was the result of a Hezbollah attack. A rocket fired from Lebanon<\/strong> hit three vehicles parked in front of a building in Nahariya and killed Uri Peretz, a 43-year-old man whose identity was confirmed by the local press. Another 50-year-old man was seriously injured. The attack took place around four in the afternoon, local time.\n\n\n

Since then, Israeli bombings of Lebanon have caused more than 1,100 deaths<\/strong> and approximately one million displaced in the south of the country, according to the Beirut Ministry of Health.\n\n\n

The total number of victims in Israeli territory since the beginning of the conflict on February 28 amounts to 18 deaths among those killed by Iranian missiles and Hezbollah projectiles<\/strong>. Added to these figures are four Palestinian women who died in the West Bank when the remains of a missile hit a hairdressing salon near Hebron, in an incident attributed by Israeli forces to an Iranian cluster projectile.<\/p>\n\n\nThe Israeli Army estimates that Iran has fired more than 400 missiles since the beginning of the conflict, with an interception rate that the armed forces put between 90 and 92 percent. Despite that balance, the Iranian ballistic offensive has managed to cause recurring material damage in residential areas of cities such as Arad, Rishon Lezion and Bnei Brak.\n\nThe conflict erupted on February 28 when the United States and Israel launched a surprise air offensive against Iran<\/strong> while diplomatic negotiations were taking place in Geneva. The operation, dubbed Epic Fury by the Pentagon, resulted in the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Iran responded with a missile and drone campaign that has been going on for almost four weeks and has also hit US and allied military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.\n\n\n
