Washington.-<\/strong> Influential ultraconservative journalist Tucker Carlson, for years one of the most prominent voices of Trumpism, apologized for openly supporting US President Donald Trump, a decision that he said has left him “tormented.”<\/p>\n\n\nCarlson made these statements during a conversation on Monday on his podcast with his brother Buckley Carlson, who also supported Trump and wrote speeches for the now president.\n\n“This will haunt us for a long time; it will haunt me,” Carlson stated, who added: “I want to apologize for having deceived people. It was not intentional.”\n\nThe journalist, who for years was one of the star presenters of the conservative Fox News channel and one of the media figures who most supported Trump, currently maintains a tense relationship with the president due to the Republican’s support for Israel and the war with Iran that began last February.\n\nWe recommend reading:\n\nCarlson has been one of the most visible voices in defense of “America First,” the campaign slogan with which Trump promised to prioritize domestic policy and avoid getting involved in prolonged conflicts abroad.\n\n\n

The criticisms of those who supported Trump<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\nIn that context, he described Trump’s language on Iran as “vile in every way” and stated he felt responsible for his return to power.\n\n“You, me, and everyone else who supports him. You wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him.
