<\/a>The initiative, launched last December, includes three modalities: the\u00a0individual card<\/strong>, with a cost of\u00a0one million dollars<\/strong>; the\u00a0corporate option<\/strong>, aimed at companies interested in retaining or transferring foreign talent, for two million dollars; and the \u2018platinum Card<\/strong>\u2019, a premium version with additional benefits, valued at five million dollars.<\/p>\n\n\nThe Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick<\/strong>, detailed the program this Thursday before a subcommittee of the House of Representatives. <\/a>Democratic Representative Grace Meng<\/strong> consulted Lutnick about the process of the ‘Trump Golden Card’, particularly about the path to citizenship for the beneficiaries and the destination of the funds raised. The official explained that the application process for this visa was recently finalized in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security<\/strong> (DHS), and that the resources obtained through the program will be allocated to the ‘improvement’ of the United States<\/strong>. In turn, he pointed out that the background check process<\/strong> applied to applicants for the ‘Trump gold card’ is ‘the most rigorous in government history’<\/strong>.\n\n

<\/a>Lutnick did not offer details about the identity of the foreigner who was granted the first visa under this program.<\/p>\n\nThe White House maintains that the program seeks to attract investment and highly qualified professionals, however, legal experts warn that its implementation could face regulatory challenges and ethical questions due to its similarity to “golden visa” schemes applied in other countries.\n\nIn a press conference at the White House, Trump claimed last year that this path offers a more solid way than the traditional Green Card<\/strong> and that the golden card is much better.\n\n\u201cWe are going to put a price on that card of around USD 5 million and that will give you \u2018Green Card<\/strong>\u2019 privileges; it will also be a path to citizenship. And wealthy people will come to our country buying this card,\u201d highlighted the occupant of the American presidential residence.
