Vatican City.-<\/strong> The Vatican <\/a><\/strong> confirmed this Monday that Pope Leo XIV<\/strong> will receive U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday, an appointment that will take place after the clash between the pontiff and President Donald Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nThe meeting between the Pope and Rubio will take place this Thursday at 11:30 local time (9:30 GMT) in the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican.\n\nLeo XIV, the first American pontiff in history, who even before his election a year ago had criticized Trump’s immigration policies, has maintained a disagreement at a distance with the Republican president, this time due to his war in Iran.\n\n\n

A month ago, on April 7, the Pope had called the US president’s threat to end “an entire civilization” in his war against Tehran “unacceptable”,<\/strong> to which the president responded by calling him “weak” and “terrible at foreign policy”.<\/h2>\n\n\nA week later, Leo XIV settled the matter by assuring that he did not fear the Trump Administration nor did he have any interest in debating with the president and advancing his intention to continue preaching peace.\n\n\n
