Licey al Medio, Santiago.\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0President Luis Abinader<\/strong>\u00a0held a meeting this Thursday with community representatives<\/a> of\u00a0Licey al Medio<\/strong>\u00a0to listen to the main needs of the demarcation and follow up on\u00a0works in progress<\/strong>, where the executive director of the\u00a0National Institute of Potable Water and Sewers<\/strong>\u00a0(Inapa),\u00a0Wellington Arnaud<\/strong>, informed that the\u00a0sanitary sewer system and the treatment plant<\/strong>\u00a0of the municipality have an 85% progress, with an investment that will exceed\u00a0RD 2,000 million.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nArnaud affirmed that this constitutes the most important work<\/strong> in the history of the municipality of Licey al Medio, while recalling that it has been one of the most heartfelt demands of the population. He indicated that, although the pipe laying works generate temporary difficulties on the roads, the Government is working to expedite the processes and reduce execution times<\/strong>.\n\nThe official reported that coordination is underway to optimize the exit of trucks and advance more rapidly<\/strong> in the final phase of the project, projecting its completion in approximately five or six months<\/strong>, while the plant would be ready for the month of July.<\/strong>\n\nHe also assured that the Government is working to guarantee an immediate replacement<\/strong> of the intervened roads and that, once the works are completed, the application of a final asphalt layer<\/strong> will be coordinated to leave the streets in better condition than they were before.\n\n\n

Regarding the impact of the work, Wellington Arnaud maintained that this intervention will transform the quality of life<\/strong> of the municipality, by pointing out that access to sanitation translates into health for the population<\/strong> and also increases the value of residents’ properties. \u201cThat is the commitment that the Government has made, which took care of fulfilling Licey’s main historical demand that will change the lives of all the municipalities of Licey, because when you have sanitation, you have health\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whereas, President Luis Abinader said he is aware that there is a water problem, however, he highlighted that the Government is investing 3.5 times more in water<\/strong>, in real terms, than in previous years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nThe president highlighted the importance of these discussions by ensuring that they allow listening to the needs of the communities and coordinating responses<\/strong> together with government institutions to continue promoting solutions<\/strong> that contribute to improving the quality of life of the population.\n\nAlso, the Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella,<\/strong> informed that the Government is working on road solutions<\/strong> to address historical problems of the municipality, including the situation of the Uveral road<\/strong> and in relation to the asphalting of streets intervened by the construction of the sanitary sewer and the treatment plant, he indicated that the institution maintains a continuous monitoring<\/strong> of the process and explained that patching work is currently being carried out, while the definitive asphalting will be executed as Inapa releases the intervened sections. \u201cAs Inapa releases the sections of intervened streets, we, by instructions of the President, will be coming to asphalt. But it has to be a process so that things go well.\u201d<\/em>\n\nRegarding the intervention of hospitals, the director of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio Landr\u00f3n,<\/strong> informed about the progress in hospital intervention in the municipality, highlighting that the Monte Adentro hospital<\/strong> will be inaugurated in the next seven or eight days<\/strong>, fully equipped and ready to offer services. Likewise, he explained that the Licey al Medio hospital<\/strong> has an 88%<\/strong> progress and that, by instructions and follow-up of the Government, the Emergency area projected for July 30<\/strong> will be delivered first, while the complete hospital is expected to be ready in October.<\/strong>\n\nSimilarly, the president of the Presidential Commission for Support to Provincial Development, \u00c1ngel de la Cruz<\/strong>, explained that the infrastructure interventions respond to definitive solutions<\/strong> and not temporary ones. In the case of the sports complex of Licey al Medio, he specified that the intervention carried out at the beginning of the government was a minor adaptation during the pandemic with an investment of RD 7.5 million<\/strong>. In addition, he announced that next Tuesday the bidding process will be published to build a roof, completely renovate the baseball stadium with lighting, adapt children’s areas and solve the drainage problems affecting the enclosure.\n\nAlso, the director of Social Assistance and Community Food (Dasac), Edgar F\u00e9lix,<\/strong> made available to eleven families<\/strong> benefited by the houses built by the Lions Club of Licey al Medio<\/strong>, the support of the institution for the provision of household items, as part of the support for low-income households.\n\nMunicipalist vision and commitment to strengthening the district boards of President Abinader<\/strong>\n\nIn addition, the mayor of the municipal district of Las Palomas, Raysa V\u00e1squez<\/strong>, valued the support provided by President Luis Abinader and the central Government to the development of that demarcation, thanking for the works being carried out in both the municipality and the district. She highlighted the support of the president<\/strong> to local Governments and recognized his municipalist vision, by pointing out that he has demonstrated throughout his career a commitment to the strengthening of the district boards.<\/strong>\n\nAlso, he highlighted the accelerated population and real estate growth of Las Palomas,<\/strong> where around 1,800 apartments<\/strong> will become operational, which, he affirmed, demands greater state intervention in areas such as solid waste management, paving, municipal equipment, and service and recreation infrastructure to accompany the community’s development.\n\nIn the meeting with President Luis Abinader, representatives from the Licey Development Council, the Licey Federation of Neighborhood Councils, the Las Palomas Federation of Neighborhood Councils, the Monte Adentro Development Council, the Licey Lions Club, the Licey Basketball Association (Abali), the Juan Pablo Duarte Club, the Juan Antonio Alix Neighborhood Council, and the United Committee to Overcome (Cupave) participated, who valued the initiatives aimed at the community, social, and sports development of the municipality.\n\nCommunity representatives presented various needs in the areas of health, sports and infrastructure<\/strong>, including the construction and renovation of roofs and sports fields, improvements in school infrastructure, road works, construction of bridges and the execution of a general program of asphalting of streets intervened by the works of the sewerage system, among other priority demands.\n\nMeets with representatives of neighborhood councils of Tamboril and promises essential works to improve the quality of life of residents<\/strong>\n\nEarlier, President Abinader held a meeting with representatives of neighborhood councils and community leaders from Tamboril<\/strong>, where he listened to the main needs of the area and reaffirmed his commitment to promote essential works<\/strong> to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants.\n\nDuring the meeting, the community members from the sectors of Canca, Pontezuela, La Hermita, El Para\u00edso, Los Cacaos, Boca de Licey, Las Flores and Buenos Aires,<\/strong> raised concerns related to the asphalting of streets, access to potable water, storm drainage, and the strengthening of health and education services in different sectors of the municipality.
