The statement included an explicit warning to the staff of diplomatic missions and international organizations. France rejected the demand. A spokesperson for its Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, according to\u00a0AFP<\/em>, that they were \u201caccustomed to Putin’s threats\u201d and that the evacuation of their diplomats was \u201cruled out\u201d. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andriy Sybiga, described the warnings as \u201crussian blackmail\u201d and called on allies not to yield to Moscow’s pressure.<\/p>\n\n\nThe bombardment from Saturday night to Sunday included 600 drones and 90 missiles<\/strong> launched from land, air, and sea, according to the Ukrainian air forces. The toll was at least four dead and more than 80 injured. Among the targets hit were residential buildings, schools, a shopping center, and a market in different neighborhoods of the capital. The Chernobyl National Museum, in the historic center of the city, and the National Art Museum of Ukraine were damaged or destroyed.\n\n\n

The projectile, capable of carrying nuclear warheads and reaching targets almost 5,600 kilometers away, hit Bila Tserkva, a city of 200,000 inhabitants located about 80 kilometers south of Kyiv. It was the third time Russia used this system in the conflict: first in Dnipro in November 2024, then in the Lviv region in January 2026. Kaja Kallas, head of the European Union’s diplomacy, described its use as a “political intimidation tactic and irresponsible nuclear game”.\n\nMoscow justified the bombing as retaliation for a Ukrainian drone attack on May 22 against an educational complex in Starobilsk, a city under Russian occupation in the Lugansk region. The casualty figures varied notably depending on the source: the UN confirmed at least six deaths, while the Russian Ministry of Emergencies raised the toll to 21. The international organization specified that it does not have access to the occupied zone and could not independently verify the data. In early May, on the occasion of Victory Day \u2014 the 81st anniversary of the Nazi defeat in World War II \u2014 Moscow declared a unilateral ceasefire and threatened a “massive missile attack” on the center of the capital if Ukraine disrupted the commemorative events, also warning foreign diplomats of the need to leave. The pattern is now repeated with a different pretext and on a larger scale.\n\nThe conflict has accumulated more than 60,000 civilian casualties since 2022<\/strong>, according to the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission, and has become the deadliest in Europe since World War II.
