NEW YORK. \u2013 Dominican Juan Soto will return to the New York Mets’ lineup this Tuesday after missing two games due to illness, at the start of the second game of the series against the Cincinnati Reds at Citi Field.<\/p>\n
The stellar outfielder will be used as a designated hitter and will bat third in the Mets’ lineup, behind Bo Bichette and before A.J. Ewing.<\/p>\n
Soto had been out of action due to strong flu-like symptoms that forced him to be absent over the weekend. Despite this, he continues to be one of the main offensive figures of the New York team.<\/p>\n
In the current season, the Dominican player is batting for an average of .294 with an OPS of .949, in addition to accumulating 10 home runs, 21 RBIs, 22 runs scored, and 22 walks in 136 official at-bats.<\/p>\n
The Mets also made several moves on their roster before Tuesday’s game. Outfielder Tyrone Taylor was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right hip flexor strain suffered during Monday’s game against Cincinnati.<\/p>\n
Also, the organization activated left-handed reliever A.J. Minter and infielder\/outfielder Jared Young from the injured list, while prospect Nick Morabito and pitcher Jonathan Pintaro were sent to Triple-A Syracuse.<\/p>\n
Infielder Eric Wagaman was also added to the Major League roster.<\/p>\n
Morabito, considered one of the franchise’s top prospects, left without connecting hits in 11 at-bats during his first experience in the Majors.<\/p>\n
