“Today, anyone on a public road wants to impose themselves by force. If you don’t give money to a parking attendant, they break a window; motorcyclists violate rights and other citizens want to take justice into their own hands,” he denounced.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe jurist maintained that the judicial system is sending a message of weakness in the face of crimes and violent behaviors that were previously punished more severely, a situation which, according to what he stated, is fueling the deterioration of social coexistence.\n\n\n

“We are normalizing violence and impunity. The State cannot wait for homicides or tragedies to occur to act. Small offenses must also be pursued and punished,” he expressed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nOrtiz also criticized that many cases end up being minimized in the courts under the argument that “nothing serious happened<\/strong>“, which he considers an incentive for aggressions and criminal acts to continue.\n\n\n

We are sending a bad message to the population and the result is that every day violence becomes more dangerous and frequent,” warned<\/a>.\n\nFaced with this situation, he made an urgent call to the Judiciary and justice administrators to impose exemplary punishments against those who violate the law, even in cases considered minor, in order to prevent impunity from continuing to escalate on Dominican streets.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
