Santo Domingo.<\/strong>\u2013 The Chamber of Deputies<\/a><\/strong> approved this Wednesday, in two consecutive readings and after declaring it urgent, a bill that establishes February 15 of each year as the National Day for the Fight against Childhood Cancer, with the aim of promoting the prevention, early detection, and timely treatment of this disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, submitted by deputy An\u00edbal D\u00edaz, seeks to generate greater awareness about the impact of childhood cancer and promote actions that contribute to improving the care of minors affected by this condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the debates, D\u00edaz highlighted the seriousness that this disease represents for Dominican families and pointed out that the emotional and social impact is even greater when it affects children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project was sent to the Senate of the Republic to continue its legislative process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same session, lawmakers approved the bill that declares December 2nd of each year as Municipalist Women’s Day of the Dominican Republic, an initiative presented by the vice president of the Chamber of Deputies, Dharuelly D\u2019Aza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The representative from Santiago highlighted the fundamental role that women play in the management of local governments, both as elected officials and as public servants, contributing to the development of their communities and the strengthening of participatory democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the plenary session approved a resolution recognizing prominent figures in Dominican fashion design for their contributions to the country’s cultural, creative, and artistic development. The proposal was presented by Deputy Selin\u00e9 M\u00e9ndez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognized designers include Isabel Reynoso, Hip\u00f3lito Pe\u00f1a, Giannina Azar, Elisa Morat\u00f3, Magaly Tiburcio, Mar\u00eda Elena Perdomo, Esteban Mart\u00ednez, Sissy Berm\u00fadez, and Sully Bonelly. Posthumously honored were \u00d3scar de la Renta, Jenny Polanco, Mercy J\u00e1quez, Farah Cabrera, Arcadio D\u00edaz, Jorge Diep, Modesta Castillo, and Mart\u00edn Polanco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deputies also approved several resolutions through which they request the Executive Branch to build and renovate infrastructure works, as well as to install government offices in different locations of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
