Santo Domingo. \u2014 <\/em><\/strong>The National Council for Children and Adolescents<\/em><\/strong> (CONANI<\/a>) provided new details this Monday regarding the case of the adolescent N. P. P.,<\/em><\/strong> who passed away in a temporary shelter, as well as the measures adopted in the judicial process involving three accused minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The institution responded specifically to statements offered to the media by the mother of one of the identified teenagers, ensuring that CONANI personnel, in coordination with the acting prosecutor, established direct contact with the mother through a phone call, for which they indicated there are records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONANI also maintained that, during the four months prior to the incident, the mother had not maintained contact with her daughter and that, according to their version, she had also refused to allow socio-family evaluations aimed at facilitating an eventual reintegration into the family unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the case, the entity reported that the process remains under investigation by the Public Ministry for Children and Adolescents, while reiterating its cooperation with the competent authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he detailed that the three accused adolescents were imposed a 30-day precautionary measure this Monday, June 1, at a Comprehensive Care Center for Adolescents in Conflict with Criminal Law (CAIPACLP), while the body of the deceased minor was handed over to her relatives by order of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF).<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The institution also reported that internal actions have been adopted, including the separation of the hosted adolescents into differentiated groups, the reinforcement of individual and collective psychological support, and the increase of security and night support staff in the residential centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the deceased minor, CONANI indicated that her situation of vulnerability was initially detected at the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Hospital, which triggered the notification to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and resulted in her admission to a foster home through a judicial process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the incident, the institution also announced the suspension of the staff assigned to the center at the time of the tragedy, as well as the continuation of the review process for residential care programs, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and specialized courts, with the aim of strengthening the protection system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONANI reiterated its commitment to the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, noting that the cases handled in shelters involve complex scenarios that require continuous intervention from the State and the family.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
