During a meeting with diplomatic representatives and international organizations accredited in the country to promote investment, trade, and cooperation.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Santo Domingo<\/strong>. \u2013<\/strong> <\/strong>The Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Eduardo (Yayo) Sanz Lovat\u00f3n, held a meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations accredited in the Dominican Republic, with the aim of continuing to strengthen the ties of cooperation, trust and strategic alliances that contribute to economic development, regional integration and the generation of high-impact, long-term opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the activity, the minister highlighted the importance of maintaining a permanent dialogue with the international community to expand opportunities for trade, investment, and innovation through cooperation and the exchange of experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis meeting seeks to open new conversations, identify common opportunities, and build shared-value initiatives,\u201d expressed Sanz Lovat\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he highlighted that these actions are part of President Luis Abinader’s vision to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s international integration and promote a favorable environment for trade, investment, and productive development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Daniel Pe\u00f1a, pointed out that the strengthening of trade relations is part of the economic policy promoted by the current government administration and responds to a strategy aimed at promoting mutual growth based on shared interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he reaffirmed the willingness of the Dominican Government, through the MICM, to address any concern or initiative from the diplomatic representatives accredited in the country, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen the ties of cooperation and trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, the head of the MICM highlighted that the Dominican Republic continues to consolidate itself as one of the most attractive destinations for investment and trade in the region, thanks to its macroeconomic stability, legal security, connectivity, and strategic location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that sense, he highlighted the main economic and logistical indicators that demonstrate the dynamism of the Dominican economy. He indicated that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reached US$5,032.8 million in 2025, which represented a growth of 11.3%, consolidating the country among the main investment destinations in the Caribbean and Central America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he highlighted that exports totaled US$14,645 million in 2025 and that, between January and April 2026, they reached US$5,062.66 million, for a growth of 19%. He added that free trade zones continue to be one of the country’s main economic engines, with more than 850 companies in operation, nearly 200,000 direct jobs, and exports exceeding US$8,600 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he pointed out that the Dominican Republic has one of the most robust logistics platforms in the Caribbean, made up of eight international airports, 16 ports, and extensive connectivity that allows access to more than 400 destinations and a market of more than 900 million consumers in 49 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting brought together the following ambassadors: United States, Leah Francis Campos; Qatar, Yaser Awad Farhan Al-Abdulla; Panama, Yira Elena Ramonet Garc\u00eda; United Kingdom, Carol Ann van der Walt; India, Kishan Dan Dewal; Korea, Baejin Lim; Chile, Iv\u00e1n Favereau Urquiza; Peru, Gustavo Lembcke Hoyle; European Union, Ra\u00fal Fuentes Milani; Costa Rica, Edwin Arias Chinchilla; Russian Federation, Alexey Victorovich Seredin; Canada, Jacqueline De Lima; Colombia, Dar\u00edo Villamizar Herrera; Italy, Sergio Maffettone, among other representatives from the other embassies accredited in the country.

Likewise, representatives of international organizations accredited in the country participated, including Ana Mar\u00eda D\u00edaz, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); Carolin Rend\u00f3n, Resident Representative of the World Bank; Nathalie Alvarado Vega, Resident Representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); Sakaguchi Kota, Resident Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA); and Pavel Isa, Director for the Dominican Republic at the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanz Lovat\u00f3n concluded by highlighting that, in an international context marked by uncertainty, the Dominican Republic is committed to openness, integration, and international cooperation as fundamental pillars to promote sustainable development and regional stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity reaffirmed the Dominican Government’s commitment to continue strengthening ties with the international community, promoting an environment conducive to investment, trade, and cooperation as engines of the country’s sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
