National District.\u2013<\/em><\/strong> The lawyer for the Dominican State, Jos\u00e9 Alberto C. Beltr\u00e1n, <\/em><\/strong>described as a victory for the country the decision of the Sixth Instruction Court of the National District to send to trial all the defendants and companies involved in the so-called Camale\u00f3n<\/a> case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conclusion of the hearing, the legal representative maintained that the order to open the trial confirms that there are sufficient elements for the process to continue to the next judicial stage, where the evidence presented by the parties will be debated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beltr\u00e1n stated that the decision also ratifies the legitimacy of the Dominican State to act as a plaintiff and civil party within the case file, a position that, as he indicated, has been supported by various courts in proceedings known since the year 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe order to open the trial reaffirms the State’s right to claim for damages caused to public assets and to actively participate in this process,\u201d he expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, he announced that during the trial on the merits, the State will seek compensation amounting to 12 billion pesos from the accused, with the purpose of repairing the allegedly caused damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The jurist explained that, if the recovery of those resources is achieved, they could be allocated to the execution of works, the strengthening of public services, and the development of policies for the benefit of the citizenry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beltr\u00e1n reiterated that the main objective of the civil action is to recover the funds that were allegedly embezzled from state assets and assured that the defendants will have to answer for both the criminal charges filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the civil lawsuit filed by the Dominican State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision to proceed to trial was issued by Judge Yanibet Rivas against all defendants and companies linked to the Camale\u00f3n case, a file that investigates alleged irregularities in contracting and the management of public resources.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
