Leave us as we are. If you touch or change the severance pay, we are going to the streets,\u201d expressed the union leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Davance maintained that severance pay is part of the labor guarantees achieved by the working class over decades and considered that any modification would represent a setback in terms of labor rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was also attended by M\u00e1rtires Guzm\u00e1n Castro, president of FEDERTRADE, who attended on behalf of the workers of the Eastern region and supported the position taken by the trade union organizations present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, representatives of hotel unions and leaders of various labor organizations attended, who agreed to reject any reform to the Labor Code that affects the benefits acquired by workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the leaders present were Denis Roche Horsford, Pedro Rodr\u00edguez, Miguelito Das, Carlos Rodr\u00edguez, Luis F\u00e9lix and Pedro Julio Cede\u00f1o, among other union leaders from the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The union representatives reaffirmed their commitment to defending severance pay and warned that they will remain vigilant against any legislative proposal that seeks to modify this right, considered one of the main protection mechanisms for Dominican workers in the event of the termination of their employment contracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>By: Manuel Peralta<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La Romana.
