Gold exports, along with other mining activities, are recording significant growth so far in 2026, contributing to the growth of exports and, consequently, to state revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Between January and April 2026, the Mining and Quarrying sector was the one with the highest growth, at 10.7%, driven mainly by the extraction and export of gold, according to the monthly economic activity indicator (IMAE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That 10.7% growth recorded is well above the overall average economic growth, which in the first four months was 4.0%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the taxes with the highest absolute growth is the Mining Tax, with a collection of RD$9,135.4 million in the month of April alone, which represents a year-on-year increase of 77.4%, equivalent to an additional RD$3,986.9 million compared to April 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While in the first four months of 2026 (January-April), the Mining tax reached a collection of RD$20,173.0 million, which represents an absolute increase of RD$8,965.0 million compared to January \u2013 April 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the first quarter of 2026, gold exports totaled 1,045.3 million dollars to the Dominican Republic, some 554.5 million dollars more than the same period in 2025, which represents an increase of 113%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For April 2026, an average gold price of US$4,721.42 per troy ounce was recorded. This value reflected a year-on-year variation of 46.74% compared to April 2025 and, in monthly terms, a variation of -2.76% was observed with respect to the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Likewise, this price was US$1,253.62 above what was projected in the General State Budget (PGE) for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This growth is explained by the increase in the price of gold and efficiency in production costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This positive result is mainly attributed to the increase in the international price of gold and improvements in the operating cost efficiency of the mining sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
