New York (EFE).- The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a>, downplayed on Wednesday the comments of U.S. President Donald Trump, who called him “crazy” in a recent phone conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As in the best of families, we sometimes have tactical disagreements. We always find a way to resolve them. As great friends, we can disagree in the morning and by the afternoon we are already taking joint action,” Netanyahu assured in an interview with the CNBC network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, he stressed that both countries agree on “the essential,” such as the goal of ending Iran’s nuclear program so that the country “does not pose a threat to Israel, the Middle East, or the United States.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This has been a great relationship, because (Trump) has been the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House. He respects me, and I respect him,” he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump confirmed that he called the Israeli “fucking crazy” during a phone call that took place on Monday to discuss de-escalation in Lebanon, but claimed that they both work very well together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was a little annoyed by his constant clashes with Lebanon,\u201d the president said on the New York Post\u2019s \u2018Pod Force One\u2019 podcast, released this Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the call with the Israeli leader and after maintaining unusual contacts with Hezbollah, the American announced that both Israel and the Lebanese Shiite group committed to halting their attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent weeks, both countries have exchanged drafts for an agreement to end the war and allow the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among Iran’s latest demands to finalize the peace pact is the cessation of the Israeli offensive in Lebanon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the interview with CNBC broadcast today, Netanyahu said that Trump “understands” that Lebanon “has been taken hostage by Hezbollah” and that both agree on the need for the group to disarm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked by journalist Sara Eisen about the news that Iran has agreed it will not have nuclear weapons, according to Trump, Netanyahu stated that “one must ensure” that the ayatollahs’ regime actually complies with this condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“(Iran) always lies, that is why there must be a way to remove the nuclear material and dismantle its infrastructure.
