Miches, El Seibo.<\/strong> In commemoration of World Environment Day<\/strong>, the executive director of the Special Fund for Agricultural Development<\/a><\/strong> (FEDA), Hecmilio Galv\u00e1n<\/strong>, led a reforestation day in Bah\u00eda de la Gina<\/strong>, where 400<\/strong> red mangrove trees were planted with the support of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the activity, Galv\u00e1n highlighted the importance of preserving coastal ecosystems and promoting concrete actions for the protection of natural resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cToday we are doing what must be done to celebrate World Environment Day, planting trees. In this case, 400 red mangroves that will contribute to restoring the ecosystem of the Gina Bay, in Miches, and will serve as an example to continue taking care of our environment,\u201d he expressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was part of the seventh edition of the Ruta de la Santa Cruz de Hicayagua, an initiative that integrates activities aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector, rural entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability in the municipality of Miches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the agenda, the launch of the Miches Beach Gastronomic Festival was also held, an event aimed at promoting tourism, culture, and local production in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activities also included the implementation of the \u201cPlant Your Backyard\u201d program in several communities, training sessions on agroecology, the delivery of tools to farmers, and the launch of the \u201cMothers of the Field\u201d program, through which laying hens were provided to strengthen the economy of rural families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, the Emprende RD program developed agricultural entrepreneurship workshops focused on the creation and consolidation of sustainable businesses, while the \u201cSiembra Tu Escuela\u201d (Plant Your School) plan benefited educational centers with the delivery of seeds and tools to foster an agricultural culture among students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the afternoon, activities continued with tours of natural spaces such as Laguna Redonda and El Lim\u00f3n, new training sessions for agricultural producers, conferences on urban afforestation, and the launch of community programs in El Cedro, Arroyo Rico, and Miches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day concluded with educational and social activities at Miches Park, reaffirming FEDA’s commitment to sustainable development, environmental protection, and the strengthening of rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
