Gonzalo, Sabana Grande de Boy\u00e1. – A brigade from the Provincial Office of the Ministry of Environment, accompanied by the mayor of the municipal district of Gonzalo, Horacio Jolicover, carried out a reforestation day this Friday on land in the Boy\u00e1 river basin where unscrupulous individuals recently cut down and burned dozens of trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the activity, around 1,200 trees of different species native to the natural basins were planted, with the aim of contributing to the recovery of the flora and protecting the area’s water resources. Among the species affected by the devastation are several royal palms and other trees that were felled and subsequently set on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to information obtained at the scene, the land originally belonged to the State Sugar Council and had reportedly been occupied for several years by Colonel Rafael N\u00fa\u00f1ez de Aza. Subsequently, individuals identified for similar practices had allegedly invaded part of the land upon claiming that there was no definitive documentation regarding the property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authorities recalled that the area had already been intervened by the Ministry of Environment in 2020, following an initial devastation. After several years of environmental recovery, the area was once again affected by the indiscriminate felling and burning of trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Likewise, it was reported that the alleged perpetrators of the environmental damage have been identified. In this regard, a call was made to the director of the CEA, Rafael Antonio Burgos G\u00f3mez, to intervene urgently in this and other cases related to protected lands, including areas located at the entrance of the municipality of Sabana Grande de Boy\u00e1, where, according to reports, some people are attempting to appropriate state lands through alleged influence peddling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
