Santiago de los Caballeros.<\/strong> \u2013 Mayor Ulises Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> received this Sunday the Torch of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026<\/strong>, during a ceremony held at the Municipal Palace<\/strong> that brought together sports authorities, officials, council members, and athletes from the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity was part of the national tour of the symbolic fire, which visits different locations in the country as a prelude to the celebration of the important regional sporting event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Rodr\u00edguez highlighted the special significance of the torch’s visit to Santiago, as it coincides with the centenary of the creation of the Central American and Caribbean Games and the 40th anniversary of the Santiago 1986 celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Santiago reaffirms its commitment to the Games<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The municipal executive urged citizens, institutions, and social organizations to join the activities related to the Santo Domingo 2026 Games, highlighting the impact the event will have on sports and the country’s international projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, the president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Garibaldy Bautista, valued the torch relay as a sign of national support for the sporting event and highlighted the role of Santiago as one of the main sub-venues for the competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis event is worthy of Santiago de los Caballeros. We feel very satisfied with the enthusiasm and commitment that the city has shown for these games,\u201d stated Bautista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities and athletes participated in the event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony was attended by \u201cCol\u00ed\u201d, the official mascot of the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, as well as representatives from the sports, municipal, and government sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the attendees were Deputy Mayor Mariana Moreno; the President of the Council of Councilors, Cholo D\u2019\u00d3leo; the Secretary General of the Santiago City Council, Arismendi Dajer; the City Council’s Director of Sports, Rafael \u201cPappy\u201d P\u00e9rez; the Provincial Director of the Ministry of Sports, Tony Pe\u00f1a, as well as athletes and sports leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
